How To Stand Out From Other Bloggers

We all know that the blogging world is a bit saturated.

But is that a good or a bad thing? When I first started blogging, I was very put off by how many people there were blogging. Many bloggers start the craft because they saw someone famous do it. For example, Zoella, Sprinkle of Glitter and Gwenyth Paltrow. Should the number of bloggers stop you from blogging? No. Obviously. You are you and you have your own blog.

You are different from the rest, that is, if you choose to be known that way.

Many bloggers make the mistake of following the crowd or copying their famous idols. Problem = They blend in. Why blog when you're going to be something that already exists? It is like Google. Why use Bing when Google already exists? Here are some things to keep in mind if you want to set yourself apart from the mass of bloggers.

  1. Be yourself. - This is the simplest part of standing out and people dismiss it as cliche. But it is true. Being yourself on your blog INSTANTLY sets you apart. Because you are you.
  2. You are blogging for yourself. - You had an idea. You made a blog. Don't think you need to dismiss that idea because big bloggers are doing something different.
  3. Consistency is rare. So blog. - Keep going. Don't let the hoard of bloggers scare you. They may be starting but they might not be finishing. Keep writing and don't stop. The hoard will lessen.
  4. Don't read other blogs. - If you find yourself stuck, stop reading other blogs. Base your articles of your own inspiration. Seeing other people's articles may make you think that you need to do certain things to be popular. For example, sometimes people do DIY crafts when they hate crafts. Newsflash: we can tell you hate crafts.
  5. Experiment. - Write down all ideas even if they are stupid. Chances are it's gold. Also, chances are at least you tried it. So that reptile themed scarf styling post? Go for it. Blogging is about trial-and-error and self-progression. Try it! (also link me because I'd love to see)

Obviously you can stand out by doing things like free money. But really standing out is all about making your blog true to yourself or your brand. Mix that with some social media work and you've got a star on your hands.

Go for it, worker bees!

  1. This was a very interesting post to read, as I found it at exactly the time when I have been having similar thoughts! I am glad somebody agrees with me, it is much better and more interesting to see a wide variety of styles and content on the blogosphere :). I like your tips too, sometimes I take a break from blog reading to come back to myself, and find my direction again. But most of the time I stand happy in doing what I love - taking small photos of everyday life, alongside fantastical photos that spin out from my daydreams!
Oh, and if you want to see something a little different and wild, try this ;)...
